I have spent the last 7 days busy with a series of paid creative jobs, creating scripts for various projects involving TV and live shows. And again, more than anything, I am made crucially aware of how important intent is in creativity.

I generally characterise myself as a big picture kind of guy. You know, broad creative sweeps that sketch a picture and you get my drift. But if anything, I continue to engage repeatedly in exploits and ideas that require me to exert an attention to fine detail that does not come naturally. Being a control freak does not sit well with being a big picture kind of guy. View full article »
A nugget of wisdom I learned many moons ago was that any reason you give for not doing what you are supposed to be doing, or want to be doing, is just an avoidance tactic. In other words, I can’t write, I cannot afford the time, I don’t own a laptop, I need to go for lessons etc are nothing more than avoiding the fact that really, you should be writing.
